Question 1
In Elders and Aliens, members of the Vertex want to reveal their psychic travel abilities to the world. If psychic travel was real, would you want the world to know? Would your answer depend on whether or not you personally had psychic travel abilities?
Question 2
While Amanda has feelings for Drew, and a possible attraction to Mitra, dating is not high on her list of priorities. How do you feel about Amanda putting her personal growth and current interests (off-world travel, architect training, etc.) ahead of romance?

Early in the book, Aunt Judy moves out of state, yet she stays involved in Amanda’s life as much as she can, often with the help of psychic travel. Have you had a close relative or friend move far away? If you were psychic travelers and could meet them anywhere in the world (or off-world) where would you choose?
Question 4
In Healers and Thieves, Lucas Flynn is introduced as an enemy of the Psychic Traveler Society. By the end of Family and Foes, he has become Director of PTS. What do think of him after reading Elders and Aliens? Can Amanda fully trust him?

Stellaria is described as a peaceful, perfect world. Why does PTS protect Stellaria with secure gatehouses? Could the world’s lack of modern conveniences like phones or electricity be related to that protection?

The tribal leaders in Opt-V foster respect by putting their young through trials that teach them about the other tribes. Do you like learning about other cultures in our world? If you had to complete one of Amanda’s trials in Opt-V, which would you choose?

Question 7
In Arcadia, the scientists and mystics have an uneasy relationship. How do you think their shared experience of helping Amanda complete the architect’s journey might affect their future relationship?

The interpreter in Crystal Caverns looks down on the Ooliani’s limited vocabulary, without knowing they are telepathic and think English is a limited language. Do you speak more than one language? What do you think about people who speak multiple languages?

At the end of the book, Cameron tells Amanda he doesn’t like the old adage, it’s better to ask forgiveness than permission. Have you heard that saying? Do you think it’s good or bad advice? How so?
